Uy was born and raised in Jamaica. Jamaica, Queens that is.
As an undergrad, Uy attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Uy co-wrote WAITING IN THE WINGS (Rona Figueroa, Ben Cervantes) with actress Rona Figureoa that he directed. The film won the Student Academy Award Silver Medal and the Directors Guild Student Award. He was a resident camera operator at the Actors Studio.
Uy went on to receive his Masters in Film Production from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts where he produced and directed numerous productions. Uy was one of the producers of A DAY'S WORK (Carter Jenkins, Louis Chavez) that won numerous film festivals all over the world and most notably the Student Academy Award Gold Medal. Uy produced and directed MOONROCK & LIGHTER FLUID (Austen Myers, MEET DAVE) a family drama for his thesis film.
Currently, Uy is freelancing as a Producer/AD while developing his own work in between productions. His latest project is adapting the Obie Award winning stage play THE ROMANCE OF MAGNO RUBIO by Lonnie Carter for the screen.
Uy lives in Los Angeles with is wife and son.
